The Owego Fire Department Emergency Squad is an organization that does not charge for its services. Our members are volunteers who do not get paid. They spend many hours at New York State required training to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) for both basic life support (BLS) (EMT-B (basic)) and advanced life support (ALS) (EMT-A (advanced), EMT-CC (critical care), and EMT-P (paramedic)). They achieve the same certification levels as paid EMS professionals and are equally qualified in emergency responses. The members of the Emergency Squad are on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. Their family lives are frequently interrupted on a moment's notice to respond to an emergency. They are selfless in their dedication.

In addition to training expenses, there is an enormous amount of equipment and supplies required for running our Squad. The acquisition and maintenance of equipment is expensive. We maintain LifePaks (machines for cardiac patients’ EKG montoring and defibrillation), radios, pagers, splints, rescue tools, and more. The cost of medical and first-aid supplies are high.

Because of these expenses, it is necessary for us to solicit donations to help defray costs. All contributions are tax deductible. Any contribution amount is gratefully accepted and appreciated. You can be assured that your donation is well spent, knowing that we can continue to serve those in our community who require emergency medical response.

We would be happy to respond to any questions you may have regarding our services and are always open to suggestions on how we might better serve you.

The members of the Owego Fire Department Emergency Squad thank you.
